VANCOUVER — As thousands of Ecuadorians struggle to cope in the aftermath of the strongest earthquake to hit the country in decades, British Columbians can show their support for the Red Cross's emergency relief efforts by making a cash donation at any BC Liquor Store throughout the province.
Since the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Ecuador near Muisne on April 16, 2016, hundreds of Red Cross volunteers have been administering first aid and supporting search and rescue efforts. BC Liquor Store donations will help the Red Cross provide victims with necessary emergency relief, medical treatment and assistance to recover from the effects of the earthquake.
Starting today, customers can support Ecuador relief efforts by donating $2, $5 or more, at any of the 197 BC Liquor Store locations throughout B.C.
BC Liquor Stores' customers and employees have supported Red Cross disaster relief for humanitarian crises at home and abroad since 2003 when stores first collected donations to support victims affected by catastrophic wildfires raging in the province. Since then, more than $2 million has been raised for Red Cross humanitarian crises in Nepal, Haiti, Pakistan, Japan and Africa, as well as disaster relief efforts in New Orleans and Alberta.
