BC Liquor Stores Collect Donations For Haiti Relief

2010-01-19

VANCOUVER – Effective immediately, BC Liquor Stores customers can help support Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti by making donations at any of the 197 BC Liquor Stores located in communities across British Columbia.

Until Feb. 12, 2010, customers are able to make donations of $2.00 or $5.00 – or multiples thereof – at all BC Liquor Stores checkouts. All donations go to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund.

On Jan. 12, 2010, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the western coast of Haiti. The Canadian Red Cross is mobilizing to support relief efforts in Haiti – providing medical support, clean water, food and shelter.

BC Liquor Stores collected donations from customers and staff for the Canadian Red Cross Society during three of its previous disaster relief campaigns: BC Wildfires (2003), Tsunami (2004-05) and Hurricane Katrina (2005).

BC Liquor Stores are unable to issue tax receipts for donations. Customers who require tax receipts should donate directly to the Canadian Red Cross.
