VANCOUVER – Thanks to the generosity of BC Liquor Stores customers across the province, more than $159,000 in donations was collected for the Canadian Red Cross appeal to assist B.C. residents affected by this year’s devastating wildfires. This amount will be matched by the provincial government.
“On behalf of BC Liquor Stores employees, we would like to thank our customers for supporting this important campaign,” said Blain Lawson, general manager and CEO, Liquor Distribution Branch.
BC Liquor Stores activated its partnership with the Red Cross on August 20, 2018, to help provide much-needed financial support for those impacted by the wildfires burning around the province. Here are the top five BC Liquor Stores locations by donations collected:
1. Westwood Centre (Port Coquitlam) - $11,060
2. Sooke - $10,340
3. Terrace - $ 9,293
All funds raised go directly to the Red Cross and help provide evacuees with shelter, food and water. Donations will also support long term recovery, resiliency and preparedness for future events in British Columbia and Yukon, including consequential events related to the fires.
