LONG-AWAITED 2005 BORDEAUX VINTAGE RELEASED

VANCOUVER - BC Liquor Stores is proud to release the long-awaited 2005 Bordeaux vintage wines on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.
 

Bordeaux is a region in southwest France that is world-famous for producing prestigious wines of exceptional quality. The 2005 vintage is widely regarded to be an extraordinary year for Bordeaux.
 

“There is very high international interest and demand for this vintage,” said David Hopgood, portfolio manager for Old World Wines at the BC Liquor Distribution Branch. “We’re pleased that our longstanding relationships with the Bordeaux wine merchants have allowed us to provide our customers with a wide selection of high-quality wines in every price range.”
 

BC Liquor Stores has acquired a record quantity and selection of the 2005 Bordeaux vintage. In total, this release consists of over 6,000 cases from nearly 200 properties including many prominent, highly collectible Premier and Grand Cru Bordeaux wines.
 

Some of the most exclusive 2005 Bordeaux wines to be released include nine of Wine Spectator’s 100-point wines. This all star list includes Ausone ($2,900), Pétrus ($3,900), Haut-Brion ($1,000), Pavie ($599), Lafleur ($1,699), Margaux ($1,599), Léoville Las Cases ($549), L’Evangile ($349) and Haut-Brion Blanc ($799). Other outstanding products at more moderate prices include wines from du Tertre ($69), d’Armailhac ($79), Haut-Bailly ($139), Pontet-Canet ($139).
 

BC Liquor Stores has published a 2005 Bordeaux Collection booklet listing all of the wines available in this release, along with ratings from various magazines, detailed tasting notes and information about specific bottle limits. This booklet is available in all Signature BC Liquor Stores and online at www.bcliquorstores.com.
