Masks Required in BC Liquor Stores & BC Cannabis Stores

2020-11-20

Dr. Bonnie Henry, the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), recently announced a new order mandating the use of face masks in indoor public and retail spaces. In line with this order, effective November 20, 2020, BC Liquor Store and BC Cannabis Store employees and customers are required to wear a face mask. Exemptions are made for people who cannot wear a mask due to health reasons or put on or remove a mask on their own.

The health and safety of our staff and their families, our customers and the communities in which we operate remains the LDB's most critical priority. We are committed to following the direction of the PHO as this situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve.

Dr. Henry has been consistent in her message that the best way to stop the virus is to maintain physical distancing and proper hand hygiene.

To that end, we have implemented a number of operational changes to our stores and workplaces to support and protect employees and customers, including the installation of protective shields at checkout areas and floor decals to support physical distancing, increased cleaning and sanitation of frequently used common surfaces, and addition of hand sanitizer in stores.

With this new order, signage is used in BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores to communicate the requirement by customers to wear a face mask while shopping in our stores.

The LDB is committed to making decisions with the goal of protecting the health and safety of the most vulnerable, our employees, our customers and the communities we serve, while following the direction of the PHO.
