2019-01-28

A coveted bottle of The Macallan 72 Years Old will make history when it is unveiled – and sold – at BC Liquor Stores’ flagship location at 39th and Cambie in Vancouver this week.

The exceptionally rare single-malt scotch is priced at $74,000 (before tax), making it the most expensive single bottle ever sold at BC Liquor Stores. It will be made available for purchase shortly after 8:00 pm on January 31, 2019, following a sold-out tasting of The Macallan Master Series Collection. A draw will be held in the event multiple customers are prepared to purchase the exclusive bottle.

“We strive to find exclusive and rare whiskies for our customers, who are quite whisky knowledgeable and well travelled,” said Adele Shaw, BC Liquor Stores’ Category Manager for Spirits. “We’re very pleased to be able to offer them the chance to purchase an amazing bottle of The Macallan 72 Years Old and other limited products from this legendary distillery.”

Four other highly sought-after Macallan products will also be available for purchase after the tasting:

  • Macallan Fine and Rare 1988 $14,000 Limit of one bottle per person
  • Macallan M Black 2017 release $7,800 Limit of one bottle per person
  • Macallan Sherry Oak 30 Years Old $3,650 Limit of one bottle per person

Each customer will receive a single ticket for the product they hope to buy; purchases are limited to one bottle of each item, per person. The draw for the opportunity to purchase will be made after 8 pm; Ticket holders must be present for the draw in order to claim the right to purchase the product.
