Save the date for Bordeaux wine release

Wine collectors and fans of Bordeaux are expected to line up for the annual Bordeaux wine release at BC Liquor Stores (BCLS) across the province on September 28th.

Many wine experts and writers are calling the 2016 vintage the perfect Bordeaux, a view echoed by Barb Philip, Master of Wine and BCLS’s Category Manager.

“The 2016 vintage offers top quality across the range from the famous châteaux in the Médoc appellations through the petits châteaux of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur AOC,” said Philip. “The fruit is ripe and powerful but balanced by great finesse.”

Philip will be available to speak to media on Wednesday, September 18th at 12:00 noon, at the 39th & Cambie Signature BC Liquor Store located at 5555 Cambie Street, Vancouver.

Shoppers are expected to camp out overnight at that location to be first through the doors when they open at 9:30 a.m. on September 28th. Bordeaux wine is produced from grapes grown within the delimited boundaries of the Bordeaux appellation in southwest France. It is the largest wine growing area in France, producing over 700 million bottles annually. Bordeaux wines range from some of the most expensive and prestigious in the world, to table wine enjoyed on a daily basis.

• Over 10,000 cases of the 2016 Bordeaux vintage – from more than 200 Chateaus – will be made available at 32 BC Liquor Stores around the province.
• This year’s offerings include more 100 point wines than ever before.
• Prices range from $29 for Château Saint Bernard $3500 for Château Petrus.
