VANCOUVER – For over 20 years, BC Liquor Stores and its customers have supported the Share a Bear program. For the first time, the twin bears will be polar bear cubs outfitted with sparkly scarves – one blue and one silver.
Through the Share a Bear program, children’s charities, shelters and hospitals across the province receive donations of beautiful, plush toy bears during the holiday season and throughout the year.
By participating in the annual Share a Bear program, BC Liquor Stores customers can bring some joy into the hearts of people in need. Customers participating in the Share a Bear program purchase twin bears for $11 and then “share” one of the twins with a local community charity that is chosen by the staff of the store where the bears were purchased.
“No one knows the effect a small gift has on a child more than the front-line employees that provide services to children in hospital care,” says Jane Power, director of development, Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation. “They bring tremendous comfort to children and welcome relief to parents.”
The Share a Bear program began in BC Liquor Stores in 1989 and has grown over the years to donations of over 30,000 bears every year to children and families in need.
The Share a Bear program begins the week of Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at all BC Liquor Stores across the province. For a complete list of BC Liquor Stores and hours of operation, please visit: www.bcliquorstores.com.
