VANCOUVER - BC Liquor Stores is releasing the Best of BC wines on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.
Each fall, the Best of BC wines is released in partnership with B.C. wineries to celebrate a special collection of premium Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) wines. This sixth annual Best of BC release brings together 26 premium VQA wines that include many high-quality collectible wines.
VQA wine sales have become the number-one selling premium wine category in the province, totalling more than $160 million annually. All wines bearing the VQA symbol must be made from 100 per cent B.C.-grown grapes.
Two preview consumer tasting sessions will be held on the evening of Friday, Oct. 23 at the 39th & Cambie BC Signature Liquor Store. Guest winemaker Chris Wyse of Burrowing Owl Winery and Gordon Fitzpatrick of CedarCreek Winery will join LDB Portfolio Manager Stephen Schiedel at these small group wine tastings. Tickets for this tasting event are available from the store for $35 each, and seating for these events is limited.
The Best of BC wines will be available only in BC Signature Liquor Stores. Limited quantities per customer will apply on some wines and buyers are advised to shop early to avoid disappointment.
