Ultra-rare Glenfarclas Scotch comes to BC Liquor Stores

VANCOUVER – On Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, BC Liquor Stores’ customers will have the
opportunity to purchase one of three available bottles of ultra-rare, collectible, 60-year-old
Glenfarclas Scotch whisky.
 

BC Liquor Stores is the first Canadian retailer in Canada to offer this premium single malt to its
customers, according to Pacific Wine & Spirits, with each bottle ringing in at $19,888. Only 360
bottles are available worldwide.
 

The 60-year-old Glenfarclas has an incredibly dark, rich mahogany colour. The vibrant aromas
of dried fruits, demerara sugar and spice come through on the nose combining with rich, oaky
tannins in a lengthy finish that culminate in an exquisite, aged whisky. The cut-crystal decanter
bottles are presented in custom designed, hexagonal boxes featuring the traditional shape of
the Glenfarclas bottle.
 

These three ultra-rare bottles will be available for sale exclusively on Sept. 9 at the Signature BC
Liquor Store at 39th and Cambie in Vancouver, after a Scotch-tasting and release event with
Glenfarclas family member George S. Grant.
 

The event – 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. – will feature an evening of tasting a stunning collection of
whiskies from the Glenfarclas distillery. At 7 p.m., if more than three customers are interested
in purchasing the rare bottles of Glenfarclas, a draw will be held to determine which customers
will have the chance to buy a bottle. Entry ballots are available in all Signature BC Liquor Stores
and must be submitted in advance of the draw date.
 

Event tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the 39th and Cambie store’s customer service
desk. Seating is limited at this event, so customers are advised to arrive early.
 

This offering of the 60-year-old Glenfarclas is a prelude to the annual BC Liquor Stores spirit
release that occurs on Nov. 1, 2014. This year’s spirit release will include over 70 new spirit
products that range from highly collectible scotches to amazing whiskies from Japan that will
appeal to a wide range of customers.
